11/2/2018 - Jen attended a celebration for the North Rockland Chamber of Commerce with Mayor Robert D’Amelio of West Haverstraw, Brian Heght from Governor Cuomo’s office and world-class high school runner and honoree Katelyn Tuohy.

9/18/2018 - Jen had a great time updating Village of Haverstraw Mayor Kohut, Village of West Haverstraw Mayor D’Amelio, the wonderful Katie Welsh and Supervisor George Hoehman on the CHPE’s progress.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Mary Minerick for inviting us to Rockland Community College’s senior gathering! What a fantastic group and excellent questions.

3/29/2018 -  Last night, TDI held its final public informational meeting in Stony Point where Jen and the project’s developers unveiled the transmission line’s improved underground route through Northern Rockland County and answered many of your questions.

Thank you to all those who attended TDI’s public meetings, asked questions, and took time to learn more about the Champlain Hudson Power Express.

3/22/2018 -  Over the past month, Jen has been busy visiting residents and organizations throughout Rockland County to discuss the benefits of the CHPE and answer questions. Jen had the pleasure of visiting the Helen Hayes Rehabilitation Center, Rockland County Legislature, Congers Civic Association, North Rockland Chamber of Commerce and the West Haverstraw Seniors.

3/21/2018 -  TDI recently held informational meetings in Congers and Haverstraw where Jen and the project’s developers unveiled the transmission line’s improved underground route through northern Rockland County. Both meetings were excellent opportunities to listen to your thoughts about the project and answer many of your questions.

The Stony Point informational meeting was postponed due to inclement weather, but has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 28 at James Farley Elementary, 140 Rt. 120, Stony Point from 6:30-8-30 p.m.

3/8/2018 -  TDI, Inc. engineers Bob Harrison and Kunle Kafi visited engineering and science students at North Rockland High School to discuss the Champlain Hudson Power Express.

3/5/2018 -  Last week, Jen attended a residents meeting at Walnut Hill to talk about the many benefits of the CHPE. Jen and Robert D'Amelio, Mayor of West Haverstraw, also discussed the memorandum of understanding that was recently signed which includes $22 million for new capital projects and $9 million for new road improvements along the Route 9W corridor.

Next week, TDI will be holding three informational meetings to answer your questions about the CHPE. Project developers will also unveil the transmission line's improved underground route through northern Rockland County:

  • Monday, March 5: The Arc Rockland, 25 Hemlock Drive, Congers, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 6: The Haverstraw Center, 50 W. Broad Street, Haverstraw, 6:30-8:30 p.m (Spanish Translation Available)
  • Wednesday, March 7: James Farley Elementary, 140 Rt. 120, Stony Point, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

2/1/2018 -  Jen has had a very exciting and busy start to the New Year. Over the past month, Jen has been working with elected officials from towns of Stony Point, Haverstraw and Clarkstown, and the villages of West Haverstraw and Haverstraw to draft a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Transmissions Developers Inc. (TDI). The agreement recognizes the unique relationship between the five North Rockland County communities and the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE). The MOU includes $22 million for new capital projects, an estimated $9 million for new road improvements along the Route 9W corridor.

Jen continues to meet with members of the Rockland County community to discuss the many benefits of the CHPE. Last week, she held a condo meeting in Clarkstown with Supervisor Hoehmann and Town Councilman Peter Bradley. 12/18/2017 -  Last week, Jen met with a great group of Rockland BOCES students who had discovered the Champlain Hudson Power Express on their own and had done a project about it that they wanted to share. Great project and we see some future engineers here.

12/12/2017 -  Jen had a wonderful meeting with the Stony Point Senior Citizens. They seemed to enjoy learning more about the Champlain Hudson Power Express.

11/27/2017 - Last week was a quiet one due to the Thanksgiving Holiday but Jen did have an excellent meeting with the North Rockland Meals on Wheels folks. Great questions. And we had answers. Make sure to check out our Q&A page to see the kinds of questions that your neighbors are asking.

11/20/2017 -  Over the past week, Jen Laird White has met with numerous residents and businesses as this year’s survey work nears its end. The survey team continues to make great progress and have finished up surveying Tilcon.

People seem to really like the transmission line slice Jen carries in her bag.

It is interesting to imagine that a pair of these lines, which are small enough to fit in a ten-year-old’s hand, can carry half of Indian Points power or enough to power ten percent of NY City.

11/06/2017 - Survey work is now halfway complete as the crew continues to collect data in Haverstraw. Over the past week, Director of Community Relations, Jen Laird White, has been holding meetings with North Rockland County residents. As a result, new questions and answers have been added to the Rockland County Q&A section here.

This week, Jen also met with the Mayors of West Haverstraw and Haverstraw, Mayor Robert D’Amelio and Mayor Michael Kohut to ensure that the CHPE surveying project runs smoothly. They also discussed project details and community benefits.

10/30/2017 -  The pre-construction survey work which began on Monday, October 16th continues. The crew is keeping traffic moving while collecting necessary data and, other than a day of rain delay, the work is on schedule. The team has left Stony Point and moved into West Haverstraw. Check the calendar here for an updated schedule

TDI Director of Community Relations Jen White spent last week meeting with North Rockland County residents, businesses and advocates. This included:

  • Walking door to door to along Park Road and meeting with residents.
  • Attending a productive and thorough meeting with representatives from the Stony Point Action Committee for the Environment (S.P.A.C.E.).

This week, Jen will stop by the Spoon River real estate office for a group meeting, visit seniors at Haverstraw Place and continue walking door-to-door in the business districts along 9W.

She is also getting ready to meet with the North Rockland Chamber, the Rotary and Lions clubs. Residents from North Rockland are offering to host informational gatherings in their homes This is an excellent way to help make sure people are informed. 10/24/2017 -  TDI and its contractor, Chazen Companies, have completed the first week of survey work along Route 9W. Weather conditions have been favorable and work has progressed on schedule. Over the next week, surveying will continue along 9W and move from the town of Stony Point to the town of Haverstraw and West Haverstraw.
